Blog #2: Top Two Refreshing Spring Cocktails
Spring is approaching faster than we know it! I invite you to imagine it now. Imagine sitting outside, in the perfect 70–80-degree weather, sun shining down, kids laughing and playing in the yard, and the perfect excuse to indulge in a refreshing cocktail.
Spring cocktails can be made using
the amazing produce and herbs available during this time of year. These can
capture the essence of the season. As we say goodbye to the winter’s chill, it’s
time to embrace the warmer season with a lineup of spring sips. These are two go to recipes you can keep in your back pocket during the springtime.
1.
First up: Watermelon Margarita.
The ingredients needed for this
cocktail are as follows:
Simply Watermelon juice drink
Lime juice
Simple Syrup
Triple sec
Tequila
To start, you will place some ice
into a cocktail shaker and add 2 oz. of your favorite brand tequila (mine is 1800 silver). Next add ¾ oz of simple syrup and ¾ oz of triple sec. Then you
will want to add 2 oz of watermelon juice and 1 oz of lime juice into the
cocktail shaker. Once all ingredients are placed into the shaker, place the lid
on and give it a few shakes to chill. Then simply pour over ice into your favorite
cocktail glass and you’re done!
This recipe is one of my favorites
due to how simple it can be. You can choose to juice your own watermelon as an
alternative to opt out of the prepackaged watermelon juice. Great pairings with this watermelon cocktail are barbecue chicken or a nice crisp salad!
2. Next up: Strawberry Basil Lemonade
The ingredients needed for this
cocktail are as follows:
Vodka
Fresh basil leaves
Strawberries
Lemon juice
Simple syrup
Club soda
To start, you will place 3 strawberries,
and 2 fresh basil leaves into a cocktail shaker and muddle. Once the juice from
the strawberries is present, add 2 oz of your favorite vodka (mine is Tito's).
Next, add the juice of one lemon, and ¾ oz of simple syrup, and shake with ice.
Once mixed, strain into a glass and top with club soda water.
This springtime cocktail is best paired
with a nice salmon dish, or fruit medley. The options are endless with this
one!
With the arrival of springtime
approaching, it’s time to raise a glass to fresh flavors, and the simplicity of
enjoying a well-crafted cocktail! Whether you prefer the zing of a watermelon
tequila drink, or the sweetness of a strawberry filled fruit cocktail, there’s
one for everyone to enjoy. Let’s dust
off our shakers and toast to the springtime season upon us!

ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting and well written blog, both of these drinks looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI have never been a watermelon type of girl, However, the way you describe that drink sounds amazing. I will be saving this for later. It seems very refreshing, It could even be a drink for summer.
The strawberry basil drink comes off to be very light, hydrating, and not too sugary. Which is my kind of drink you put both of these drinks into severe detail. I never thought basil and strawberry would be a good mix in a cocktail however, this blog is making me second-guess my choices..
