Blog #3: A Refreshing Treat – What am I?
Most enjoyed after a meal. Imagine a moment that triggers
all your senses. A refreshing moment of enjoyment. Imagine a moment
indulging in a small, round treat that offers a cool sensation. At first glance
it may appear dull and unappealing, giving off little to no color other than white. However anticipation builds as the little
white object is lifted to your lips.
Maybe found at the bottom of your grandmother's purse. The small treat is placed on to your tongue and a wave of icy cold spreads and sends a shiver down your spine. Your taste buds start to tingle with delight and excitement. The sensation leaves a refreshing, cool feeling in your mouth. The essence of the flavor is released as the treat melts away slowly. The coolness, however, stays lingering. It is a feeling like a breath of fresh cold air in the middle of the snow in December. A feeling like wind hitting you in the face in the middle of the woods. Then amidst the coolness, a sweet flavor begins to appear, balancing the flavor of it's cool counterpart.
Maybe found in an old junk drawer, or the checkout stand at the grocery store. As the treat stays in your mouth, it slowly begins to
disappear. The cooling sensation slowly begins to fade, leaving a feeling of
satisfaction and somehow at the same time, leaving you wanting more. It takes
you on a journey of your own senses. What am I?

ReplyDeleteThe sensory imagery in this blog is incredibly vivid, really capturing the essence of that mysterious treat. I’m intrigued by the way you’ve described it, leading the reader to feel the icy sensation and the sweet aftertaste without even naming the treat. It’s like a riddle wrapped in a sensory experience. The comparison to the breath of cold air and the wind through the trees is so evocative, it almost transports the reader to a wintry forest. It's a neat literary device to personify a flavor experience like that! It’s clear you have a talent for creating a narrative around something as simple as a flavor. This is a fun and engaging read, and I’m definitely left curious and wanting to know more about this cool, sweet treat!
